About Eighteen Zeros
Eighteen Zeros is deliberately small and founder-run. Here's what that means in practice.
Who's running it
I'm Mark Pettengell, and I am the founder of Eighteen Zeros Limited. I've spent about seventeen years in IT, working with a wide range of business applications from ERP, CRM and e-commerce, as well as bespoke business apps and commercial software products. I've seen organisations of all sizes spend huge sums on proprietary solutions despite better and cheaper open source solutions being available, often because the business lacked the confidence to run those open solutions. Worse, the rise of cloud based solutions and SaaS have introduced significant risks to privacy and data confidentiality due to US hyperscaler business practices and the US CLOUD Act.
I founded Eighteen Zeros to be the thing I'd have wanted to buy. Managed open source solutions, built on European infrastructure on open standards, with ethical business practices at its heart. Zero compromises.
There's no sales team, no outside investors, and no plan to grow into a mega-corp. So the person accountable for your infrastructure is the one answering your email. Monitoring and incident response run around the clock; for anything that isn't an emergency, we're here in UK business hours.
European infrastructure only
Every infrastructure decision starts with where the data ends up. If a component would put it outside EU jurisdiction, we don't use it, even where that costs us the easier option.
Open source, open standards
Every component is open source and speaks standard protocols and formats. There is no proprietary layer of ours between you and your infrastructure, and we can explain any part of it because we assembled it ourselves.
Charities and B Corps pay less
Registered charities, B Corps and social enterprises pay a lower rate on every plan. It is part of how we price rather than an introductory offer, so it does not expire once you have moved in.
Small by design
We won't grow faster than we can run things properly. That caps how many customers we can take at once, and it's meant to.
Leaving is easy on purpose
Everything runs on open source and standard formats. If you want to go, we help you export cleanly. We'd rather earn your custom than trap it.
